Troy, NY- This evening, Tistrya Houghtling, candidate in the 107th Assembly District, was endorsed by the Rensselaer County Democratic Committee, picking up her second County Committee endorsement. Houghtling was previously endorsed by the Columbia County Democratic Committee on May 24th.
“I am grateful for the grassroots support of the committee members who work so hard on behalf of all the Democratic candidates. Their hard work, and the desire to bring real change to Albany will allow us to be successful on Election Day.”, Houghtling stated.
Rensselaer County Democratic Chairman Mike Monescalchi said, “Tistrya is the best candidate to ensure the 107th Assembly district is represented by a member who will sit in the majority conference and be able to make a real impact on behalf of the communities in Rensselaer, Columbia and Washington Counties. This district has been under-represented for far too long.”
Houghtling, a New Lebanon native, currently serves as New Lebanon’s Town Clerk, after being elected in 2015. Houghtling served as the Deputy Court Clerk in the New Lebanon Town Court from 2010 – 2011, and then rose to Court Clerk. After five years of service in the Court, Houghtling ran a successful campaign for Town Clerk. With bi-partisan support she won a contested race by a 13% margin.
“I have never wanted to be a politician, but I have always believed in public service. That’s the way I have served as Town Clerk and that’s how I will serve as an Assembly-member. Everyone’s voices should be heard and I work for the people.”, she concluded.
